Action required: withdraw all assets from Lisk Chain by 31 October 2026. If you hold LSK, ETH, stablecoins, bridged tokens, DeFi positions, or anything else on Lisk Chain, withdraw it to Ethereum as soon as possible. After 31 October there is no way to withdraw or recover assets left on the Chain.
This post covers who needs to act and how to withdraw each type of asset, step by step.
Quick answer
- Withdraw all assets from Lisk Chain to Ethereum by 31 October 2026. This applies to every asset, not just LSK.
- Staked LSK must be unlocked and unstaked first. The emergency unlock penalty has been waived. Unstaking adds a 3-day waiting period.
- Bridging from Lisk Chain to Ethereum takes around 8 days. Allow at least 11 days in total if you are staking. We recommend starting immediately.
- LSK already on Ethereum or on an exchange needs no action.
Who needs to act
| Where your assets are | What to do |
|---|---|
| LSK on Ethereum or on an exchange | No action required. |
| LSK, ETH or stablecoins in a wallet on Lisk Chain | Bridge them to Ethereum. Start as soon as possible, at least 8 days before 31 October. |
| Staked LSK | Unlock and unstake, wait 3 days, then bridge. Start as soon as possible, at least 11 days before 31 October. |
| DeFi positions on Lisk Chain | Close the position, then bridge the assets. Start early. Some protocols may have their own timelines. |
If you are not sure what you hold on Lisk Chain, search each wallet address you use on a Lisk Chain block explorer and check the token balances and contract interactions listed there.
How to withdraw staked LSK
Staked LSK does not return to your wallet on its own. You have to unlock and unstake it. The emergency unlock penalty has been waived following the passing of the Lisk DAO proposal, so there is no cost to unstaking now, only a 3-day waiting period.
- Go to the Lisk Portal and connect your wallet.
- Unlock and unstake your LSK. There is no penalty.
- Wait 3 days. Your LSK is released back to your wallet on Lisk Chain.
- Bridge it to Ethereum using the steps in the next section.
Unstaking and bridging take around 11 days together, so anything started in the final days of October may not complete in time. We recommend starting immediately.
How to bridge LSK, ETH and stablecoins to Ethereum
All withdrawals from Lisk Chain go through a bridge to Ethereum. Use bridge.lisk.com. It is the only bridge that still works, so do not rely on any other route.
It follows the standard Ethereum L2 withdrawal, which runs in three steps over around 8 days.
- On the bridge, connect your wallet, set the route from Lisk to Ethereum, select the asset and the amount, and confirm the withdrawal.
- About an hour later, return to the bridge and submit the "prove" transaction on Ethereum. The 7-day countdown starts at this step, not the first one, so do not skip it.
- After the 7-day challenge period, submit the final transaction to claim your assets on Ethereum.
You will need a small amount of ETH on Ethereum to pay for the prove and claim transactions. Repeat the process for each asset you hold.
How to withdraw DeFi positions
Assets inside a liquidity pool, a lending market or a vault cannot be bridged directly. Withdraw from the protocol first so the underlying tokens are back in your wallet, then bridge each token as described above.
Check the protocol's own announcements too. Some projects on Lisk Chain are migrating to Celo and may set their own deadlines for closing positions. Those deadlines may fall before 31 October.
Timing, in plain terms
Unlocking and unstaking takes 3 days. Bridging takes around 8. Together that is around 11 days, assuming every step goes through on the first attempt.
The chain closes on 31 October 2026. A withdrawal that is still in its 7-day challenge period when the chain closes may not complete. We recommend starting immediately, not in the final weeks.
After 31 October
Once Lisk Chain shuts down, the bridge to Ethereum closes with it. Assets left on the chain at that point become inaccessible. There is no recovery process, no claim window and no support route that can restore them afterwards.
