Send a transaction

Transaction Types

There are several types of transactions within the Lisk network. These include LSK transfers, voting, delegate registration, and more. For a more detailed explanation of all the default transaction types, please see transactions of the Lisk protocol.

For the remainder of this guide, we will focus on the transfer transaction. Other transactions will be covered in other sections.

A few things to keep in mind with LSK transfers:

  • LSK wallets must maintain a minimum balance of 0.05 LSK. Therefore, it will not be possible to transfer all funds from a wallet
  • There is an option to click the “Send maximum amount” link, which will fill in the maximum amount you may transfer out of your wallet. However, if after you press this link you change either the address or message field, the transfer fees may change and you may have to press this link again for a new accurate maximum amount.

Transferring LSK Tokens using Lisk Desktop

To get started with your transfer, click “Wallet” on the left column, then click the “Send LSK” button.

A pop-up will then appear asking for the Recipient (LSK address or bookmark name), amount of LSK tokens you wish to transfer, and an optional Message (Memo).

Once you have that filled out, click the “Go to confirmation” button.

Another pop-up will appear with all the information regarding your upcoming transfer. Verify that the information is correct, then click the “Send” button. This will submit your transfer to the Lisk network, and in just a few seconds your LSK tokens will be on its way to its destination.

Please note that if you are sending LSK from a multi-signature wallet, the previous pop-up will look slightly different. You will either need to sign your transaction, which can be used for the other address(es) linked to this wallet to sign, or (in the case of a multi-signature wallet requiring only 2 signatures) use the option to enter the 2nd passphrase and submit the transaction right away.

Transferring LSK Tokens using Lisk Mobile

LSK transfers with Lisk Mobile are very similar to Lisk Desktop. However, it should be noted that it is not currently possible to transfer tokens with multi-signature wallets. For those, you will need Lisk Desktop. The ability to transfer tokens from multisignature wallets from Lisk Mobile is something planned for the future.

To get started with your transfer, click “Send” on the bottom tray. You will be taken to a screen that asks you for the Recipient (LSK address or bookmark name). Enter the address you wish to send to, then click the “Continue” button.

Receiving LSK

In order for someone to transfer LSK tokens into your account, you will need to provide them with your public Lisk address. That is the only information they need for the transfer to be possible.

For added convenience, you may make a request in both Lisk Desktop and Lisk Mobile. These requests allow either a QR code for Lisk Mobile or a link for Lisk Desktop to be sent to the person or entity that intends to send you LSK tokens.
